That depends on the story. Ford Social began over 100 years ago. It's been unfolding ever since, informing the decisions we make, motivating our engineers, inspiring drivers. But there's a part of that story most people don't know about. It's the inside story. And it's right here.

AboutOne (beta)

Families of any size need a way to centralize and back up their most important information, such as medical histories, deeds to major purchases, and priceless photos. AboutOne (free) is an online hub where you can upload files, jot down important information about your loved ones, and otherwise manage all the paperwork and data that's associated with running a household.

AboutOne Use
AboutOne is simple to use and has decent search functionality, which is crucial for a service of this type. Unfortunately, it doesn't contain enough built-in suggestions for how to use it or reasons to log in often. Other online family organizers (Doxo comes to mind) encourage you to use the service by aggressively steering you toward different areas of the site every time you log in. Doxo can also link with utility providers and other billed services, much as Mint.com connects with financial accounts and paid services, giving you more reason to log in frequently. With AboutOne, on the other hand, it's easy to forget you have an account, because there's no compelling reason to visit the site?until a disaster strikes.

Set Up and Features
Signing up for an account takes little more than entering an email address, creating a password, and setting up a few additional security login measures. Once you have an account, AboutOne begins by having you enter information about your family, including pets. You can fill in details such as birthday, sex, blood type, and social security number.

Aside from entering information about family members, you can also add contacts and inventory your possessions. The contacts manager lets you import other address books as well, such as those stored in Facebook and Google.

Two other key features, a family calendar and centralized place for documents, show up as icons on the site but aren't available as of this writing (the site is technically still in beta). I should hope that by the time the site is launched in full, documents integrate neatly with possessions. If I were to list a vehicle that I own, I would also want to attach directly to it documentation for the license, registration, insurance, and any warranties associated with it, rather than stick that paperwork in a separate area.

Beta? You Betchya
AboutOne remains in beta, and having had a deeper look at its functionality and lack of finish, it's clear that it is. AboutOne understands the need to centralize important family information, but hasn't quite figured out the best way to do so yet. What's holding the service back at the moment is a compelling reason for users to return and continually update their information. It needs a hook, like Doxo's integration with services and bill pay, to keep people coming back.

Benefits of Outsourcing Human Resources Services to the Experts

Outsourcing key functions of an Organization can surely lead to significant cost reduction and savings for a company, thus, enhancing total profits. An in depth evaluation of the choices and decisions that lead to the outsourcing of certain components of a firm?s activities- makes it imperative to consider the key advantages of outsourcing.

With more and more organizations looking towards Human Resource Outsourcing, it becomes important to enumerate the benefits that can be derived from employing third party professionals, rather than recruiting in-house resources to perform the tasks related to Human Resources Services.

1. ?Allows Focus On Core Activities: As the volume of operations in any organization increases, it becomes apparent that the available manpower and knowledge resources are often engaged in non-core activities at the cost of core activities.

The strategic areas tend to get neglected, as the pressure to deal with deadlines and day ?to- day activities increases. For example, by recruiting the human resources services to Professional Employee Organizations (PROs) or undertaking human resource outsourcing with specialized agencies, the time and resources spent on employee regulations, payrolls and taxation, healthcare and benefits, recruitment and interviews, litigations, etc, can be diverted towards more strategic areas and refocusing? on core activities becomes an easier process.

2. ?Increasing Back office functions can be outsourced:? As the back office work in an organization increases, it brings along with it more manpower and an addition in the employee database. Outsourcing the human resources services to experts and specialized database mangers using upgraded technology and the latest employee data banks, can help in maintaining updated data about the current employees, prospective future recruits, available markets for cheaper labor and manpower and all other relevant details of recruitment.

3.

?Improves Productivity and minimizes risks: Small business often do not support the infrastructure required to take care of legal requirements, regulations and administrative hassles. Human Resource outsourcing relieves them from the time consuming and risky process of dealing with these issues. Availing human resources services lead to more productive and happier employees. Using top of the line professional services for Human Resource Management in an organization helps inculcate a feeling of loyalty towards the firm that helps employee contribution rise to higher levels.

4. ?Enables Hiring dozens of industry ?specific experts: Human Resource outsourcing to Administrative Service organizations (ASO) instead of hiring someone in-house to take care of the activities related to human resources brings in a wide range of expertise in one go. So instead of hiring a single generalist you end up receiving high quality services from a team of experts.

The benefits of human resources services may be summed up as:

? ?Cost reduction and increased efficiency

? ?Upgraded HR IT Systems are accessed

? ?Enhanced Management information which includes human capital metrics

? ?Increase in flexibility and speed of response through third party HR experts

? ?Betterment of Employer-employee relationship

Human Resources Outsourcing is a norm in today?s business world and goes a long way in helping Organizations achieve their strategic goals.

Commitment In The Now | conscioussolutions.com.au

When we think about commitment and being in the moment, we often think they are two mutually exclusive concepts and practices. Commitment is often seen as an obligation we make to someone or something else. When we make a commitment we are saying that we will stay together in a marriage relationship or that we will commit to making a business or project work. Being in the moment, on the other hand often means coming out of belief, social constructs and interpersonal roles. ?Now experiences? are about a state of being within, rather than mental or social constructs. So how could these two concepts support each other and come together to create a new sense of togetherness in conscious relationship, or success in business, or enhance ourselves?

Commitment in the moment is about putting in our 100% in the here and now into our businesses, work, relationships, parenting etc. It is like saying, ?right now I will do the very best in being present, aware and focussed on this project or relationship?. The truth is that we cannot know what we will be thinking, feeling or doing in five or twenty years? time. We can ONLY create in the present moment! However if we cultivate the right beliefs, environment, attitudes and their associated feeling space of what we want to create, then we are giving our desires the best chance of growing. To force something to be or become simply does not work.

Commitment in Intimate Relationship

This is why intimate relationships can be such a deep source of disappointment. If we believe that the relationship is long lasting then it is more likely that it will be long lasting. Our belief has a real role to play in commitment. Our attitudes, communication practices and exploration of real genuine intimacy are also important aspects of creating long lasting commitment in intimate relationship. However, we ARE cultivating this in every moment.?If, for example, we say we will commit to a relationship or a marriage and then we neglect our responsibility to see from eyes of love rather than resentment, or to react out of unconscious patterns towards our partner, then it is little wonder that commitment wanes and the relationship eventually breaks down. We may agree to enter a sexually exclusive relationship however, it is how consciously aware of ourselves in that relationship and in every moment, that makes or breaks commitment. So under this definition, commitment is a process rather than a static concept or doctrine to live up to.

Commitment in Business & Work Life

Likewise, in business or even in employed positions, what we create in our work life and the commitment we bring to it shines through or disintegrates it. Currently, business and the economic market are tough. However, I am continuously seeing people in business focussing on the stress and negative (or their fear based reality) rather than bringing in some optimism and realistic steps forward to strengthen their business. They often say they are committed, however their actions tell another story. They are closed for longer, they cease to top up stock and they order less. All that happens is that people do not buy there as much. Eventually the business will fold.

In paid employment, it is amazing how many people do not want to be at work. They often do not realise it, but this attitude and the attached feeling space, creates a general depressing lack of commitment and lost opportunities to give. Susan Jeffers talks about giving our 100% to each aspect of our lives with commitment and generosity to overcome depression and anxiety. She is right! Commitment at work in our attitude, perception and actions is vital for a fulfilling life.

Commitment to Ourselves

Commitment to ourselves is the third area I will explore today. Perhaps this is the best place to start to cultivate commitment in any area of our lives, as commitment is a process that emanates from our beliefs, feeling space and actions when we embrace it. Commitment to ourselves is about valuing and honouring ourselves physically, mentally, spiritually and emotionally in every moment. Ultimately, this is a practice like mindfulness that builds awareness in the here and now.?As we learn more about ourselves and increase our conscious awareness of our psycho-spiritual patterns, we are by default learning how to commit to ourselves. It is like, the more that we consciously know at a gut level, the more we can only practice that which is for our own and others greater good. As we become more kind to ourselves, we become more kind to others. The more overflowing in joy, the more we love to give without expectation. Commitment to ourselves is like embracing commitment to life, we allow in what we thrive on and say ?no? to what corrodes or destroys us.

Commitment in the now is fundamental to success and fulfilment in life. It does not guarantee anything. It does not mean things we want will necessarily work out for us. But it does mean that we are giving what we want in life our best shot and opening to success. Commitment is giving our best. If commitment is fuelled with conscious awareness and self-value, then the chances of permanent healthy relationships, meaningful work and a happy, healthy self are maximized.

How do you cultivate commitment in your life?

In what areas of your life would you like to cultivate more commitment?

Google cuts the price of the HSPA Galaxy Nexus to $349, adds Jelly Bean

Jeez Louise, Google's 2012 I/O opening keynote has barely begun and much of the news has already leaked out on the company's own Play Store. Add this to the list: Google is dropping the price of the HSPA+ Galaxy Nexus to $349 from $399, and is updating its flagship phone with the next, soon-to-be-unveiled version of Android, Jelly Bean. That screenshot up there should answer some of your most likely questions, but here's the short version: it'll be compatible with AT&T and T-Mobile in the US, and roughly 200 other GSM carriers everywhere else in the world (no surprise here). As for the software, well, we have enough early intel about Jelly Bean to know that's Android 4.1 running on a seven-month-old handset. As for what that jump from 4.0 to 4.1 entails, you can expect quite a few stories from us, but this official announcement should be as good a place as any to start.

[Thanks to everyone who sent this in]

Concerns about terrorist attacks, the prospect of a rogue nation using nuclear weapons and the Fukushima power plant accident in Japan are fostering efforts to develop a new family of drugs that everyone hopes will never be used, according to an article in the current edition of Chemical & Engineering News (C&EN), the weekly newsmagazine of the American Chemical Society, the world's largest scientific society.

Ann M. Thayer, C&EN senior correspondent, explains that the federal government has launched programs to develop medical countermeasures against nuclear threats. Radiation releases can happen under various circumstances, including failure of safety systems at commercial nuclear power plants and terrorist attacks. The article describes programs run by the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health that support several small companies as they try to develop drugs to treat acute radiation syndrome (ARS).

The article discusses the companies' approaches. Some seek to adapt existing drugs, including treatments for the side effects of radiation therapy for cancer. Thayer notes that because these drugs are already approved by the FDA, stockpiling them would be easier. Others are looking for new compounds that can treat the symptoms of ARS or remove radioactive particles from the body.

The best quality materials will be wasted without proper installation. For your pool construction in Leshan, workmanship quality is key and if you can afford it, you should call pool construction experts. If you do not want to spend lots of money, you can supervise your pool construction carefully.

Indoor Swimming Pool Construction in Leshan

Be aware that if they are not experts with over 5 years experience in indoor swimming pool building, most construction workers in Leshan will not be familiar with the specialized materials and techniques required. Hence, before the construction begins, you have to make sure that each pool worker understands the importance of the materials and their proper installation.

Indoor swimming pool construction in Leshan

In Leshan, any contracting job including swimming pool construction or repair that costs over $500 must be performed by a contractor who holds a current, valid contractors license usually in the classification for which they are contracting. A general building contractor may also contract for swimming pool construction in Leshan provided the general building contractor holds the swimming pool specialty classification, or the general building contractor hires a licensed swimming pool specialty contractor to perform the work in Leshan.

Other contractors like plumbers, landscapers, solar workers, etc., should work within their specific areas of licensure in Leshan, and cannot be responsible for the overall project.

- Get references: You should ask for references from the contractor, at least one current and one completed in Leshan. When you call to talk with the client about the job, be sure to ask how the project was handled and about their satisfaction with the contractor, sub-contractors and employees, as well as the end result for the completed job.
- Get bids: It is important to get at least three bids in Leshan so you can compare them.

Ask the contractor or salesperson to see their identification and check that the name of the Leshan swimming pool company with which you are doing business is listed.
- Have a contract: make sure everything is in writing. This includes materials, schedule and clean-up. Changes, details and payment scheduled should be written down in detail. Do not sign anything until you completely understand the terms. A plan and scale drawing of the shape, size, and dimensions must be included as part of your swimming pool contract in Leshan.

(AP) ? For all the declarations of victory, the U.S. Supreme Court's decision to preserve the "show me your papers" provision in Arizona's immigration law means the state can enforce the statute only with the help of its chief critic: the federal government.

The court's decision Monday struck down parts of the law, but preserved one that requires local police to check the immigration status of people stopped for various reasons and whom officers believe are in the country illegally.

There was a catch, however. The court decided that officers cannot detain anyone on an immigration violation. That is, unless federal immigration officials say so.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio, the controversial lawman known for his anti-immigration raids, said he was concerned whether federal agents will decline to pick up some illegal immigrants who are stopped by his deputies.

"I have my suspicions," he said.

Hours after the ruling, the Department of Homeland Security canceled agreements with seven Arizona police departments that deputized officers to arrest people on immigration violations while on street patrol.

Federal immigration officers will help, but only if doing so conforms to the department's priorities, including catching repeat violators and identifying and removing those who threaten public safety and national security, the department said.

If federal agents decline to pick up immigrants, the state doesn't have any way to force federal authorities to pick them up and will likely have to let them go unless they're suspected of committing a crime that would require them to be brought to jail, said Peter Spiro, a Temple University law professor who specializes in immigration law.

In that sense, the law is symbolic, Spiro said. "(The questioning requirement) is useful to the extent that it allows states to give notice of hostilities to undocumented immigrants," Spiro said. "It allows for a formal expression of the state's hostilities toward undocumented immigrants."

Meanwhile, if local police get the chance to enforce the law and are not blocked by a federal injunction, they will be closely watched not just by immigrant rights advocates who are on the lookout for racial profiling.

They will also face scrutiny from residents who have been frustrated by and blamed the federal government for a porous border and can under the immigration law sue police departments that don't follow the "show me your papers" provision.

A federal hotline was set up for the public to report potential civil rights concerns.

Immigrant rights advocates plan to launch a public relations campaign in hopes of quelling fears about the law and hold public meetings across the state to explain the law. A hotline run by a civil rights group will take questions about the law and document reports of abuses by police.

About 50 immigrant rights supporters rallied peacefully outside an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office near downtown Phoenix.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer called the decision a victory for all Americans, but said she expected lawsuits to challenge the implementation of the law.

"It's certainly not the end of our journey," she said.

And responding to criticism that the law would lead to racial profiling, Brewer said that any officer who violates a person's civil rights will be held accountable. Even while upholding the provision, the justices said the status check could be challenged.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said in a written statement that the Supreme Court's ruling will make her agency's work more challenging, but she was pleased that the court ruled state laws can't dictate the federal government's immigration enforcement priorities.

Immigration rights groups said they were surprised and disappointed by the court's decision, and planned to ask the lower courts to block the law.

"The opinion invites the challenges that we are bringing. It's going to cause racial profiling. It will cause prolonged detentions," said Linton Joaquin of the National Immigration Law Center, one of the groups pushing a separate challenge to the law.

Kansas attorney Kris Kobach, who helped draft the law and has advised officials in other states wanting to crack down on illegal immigration, called the ruling "a big victory for Arizona" while acknowledging that "it's not a complete victory."

The ruling gives states "a green light" to enact "check your papers" laws, as well as other initiatives, such as requiring employers to use the federal E-Verify database to check the status of new workers, said Kobach, a Republican who is the Kansas secretary of state.

Arizona passed the law in 2010, with lawmakers arguing that that federal government wasn't adequately preventing illegal immigration. The Obama administration sued to block it, saying that enforcing immigration laws was a federal responsibility.

Federal courts had refused to let the four key provisions take effect.

Five states ? Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, South Carolina and Utah ? have adopted variations on Arizona's law. Parts of those laws also are on hold pending the outcome of the Supreme Court case.

Kobach said the decision was not a 100 percent victory for Arizona because "some of the less important provisions of the law were struck down." He added: "The reason can be summed up in two words: Justice Kennedy."

Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote the opinion for the court, a unanimous decision on allowing the status check to go forward. The court, however, was divided on striking down the other portions.

They were the sections that required all immigrants to obtain or carry immigration registration papers and allowed police to arrest suspected illegal immigrants without warrants.

Arizona has spent almost $3 million defending the law for the last two years, the Arizona Republic reported Monday.

In the Phoenix area, some residents were pleased that most of the law was tossed out.

Audrey Pulido, who owns The Garage Bike Shop in the predominantly Hispanic town of Guadalupe, also said that it was unfair that police can check a person's immigration status.

"Actually what you're doing is you're stereotyping a person," said Pulido, whose husband was in the U.S. illegally before they were married. "It's like judging a book before you even read it, just by what they are. They are human beings, first of all."

Pulido said residents do not talk much about the law but that it has instilled fear in them and factors into how they plan their lives.

Pulido said a waitress in the restaurant next door asked her if she would sign a notarized document to care for her son if the woman got deported. "I would do it in a heartbeat," she said. "I would not hesitate.

"You don't get that all the time," Pulido said. "They have to think that way ? 'What's going to happen to me?'"
