PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) ? The national synchronized skating championships are coming to Rhode Island in two years.
The Rhode Island Sports Commission announced Tuesday that the ice skating contest will be held in February 2015 at the Dunkin? Donuts Center in Providence and Thayer Arena in Warwick.
The event is expected to draw more than 100 teams from around the country, plus thousands of spectators. John Gibbons, director of the sports commission, says attendees will stay in 15 different hotels and give a boost to the state?s tourism industry at a typically slow time of year.
Warwick hosted the New England Figure Skating Championships last fall.
