Summer baseball: Natick's Furdon no-hits, slams Tyngsboro

Right-hander Brady Furdon pitched a no-hitter to go with five strikeouts and also hit a grand slam in the third inning as Natick Post 107 crushed visiting Tyngsboro 20-0 in a Zone 5 Legion game last night at Mahan Field.

The only base-runner allowed by Furdon was hit by a pitch in the third inning.

Martin Bernard went 1-for-1 with a two-run single, three walks and two runs scored;

Derek Reddy wnt 1-for-3 with a triple, three RBIs, two walks and three runs; Jack Turner went 2-for-2 with two RBIs and three runs; and Matt Heinlein went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs for Post 107 (11-4).

Natick, which had 12 hits and drew 10 walks, scored four runs in both the first and second innings and then added eight more in the third.

MAIN SOUTH 5, FRAMINGHAM 4: Robby Averill?s RBI single gave Post 74 a one-run lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, but visiting Main South pushed across three unearned runs in the top of the seventh and hung on to edge Framingham (13-11) in a Zone 4 game.

Kevin Lacy went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in and Corey Lerner scored a pair of runs for Framingham, which still has two games remaining in the regular season.

Post 74 hosts Grafton Hill tonight and closes out at Northborough tomorrow in a makeup game from June 14.

The top nine teams qualify for the Zone 4 Tournament and Framingham was in seventh place entering last night.

Last night?s game was tied 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth.

Greg Hemmer walked and moved to second on a passed ball before scoring on Averill?s single to give Framingham a 3-2 lead, which turned out to be a brief advantage.

With two outs in the seventh, Main South capitalized on four walks and two errors for three runs and a 5-3 lead. In the bottom half of the inning, Lerner led off with a double and came home on an error to cut the deficit to a run.

Colin Tougas doubled and scored Framingham?s first run in the third inning on Lacy?s double.

Lacy drove in Framingham?s second run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.

SENIOR BABE RUTH

MILFORD 8, WESTBOROUGH 7: Kevin Blackney doubled, tripled and also scored a run for Westborough (6-12), but visiting Milford (14-3) edged the Scorpions in a Central Mass. Senior Babe Ruth non-division game yesterday.
